pulpy and well acted, the order works by presenting the facts of this true tale of unchecked white power and presenting it in a straightforward but meaningful way. sometimes a film’s best power is letting it’s story come to light and i couldn’t think of a more better time for this film to see the light. powerful and chilling.
figured I’d watch this for the first time before seeing the musical (again) tonight! i love the quirky tone of the movie which the musical captures perfectly. i loved most the ending, when Jenna gets her agency back after leaving Earl and opening up Lulu’s pies. it’s gone through a major transformation, decked out in neon colors in contrast to the drab retro diner it once was. jenna’s world is in color now that motherhood changed her for better :-)
