Absolutely love this movie. It tells a beautiful story about madness and obsession. The inherent want to live to another’s standards. Standards that are nearly impossible of achieving. It portrays the emptiness that one feels from not living up to someone else’s standards. Whiplash tells a beautiful story. The grotesque dissatisfaction Andrew feels from himself after not living up to Fletchers standards is displayed so well. By far one of my favorite movies. The score is incredible. Miles teller and J.K Simmons play such a fundamental part in crafting such an enriching story.

To start, I find that the film does an incredible job at incisively examining the vicissitudes of human ambition. This cinematic opus also offers an important metaphorical exploration of the American dream. This is where I was first hooked. Will Ferrell arguably (and I mean arguably) played his best role in this movie. His character begins with pure obscurity…
