a good movie! great performances all around and stunning cinematography— there’s a feeling of age, tradition and burden. Ralph fiennes really knocks it out of the park as Cardinal Lawrence and all of the major character actors do a fantastic job. the political drama is very fun and can be easy to follow along.

As of right now, having just watched this movie, I have no idea how to rate this. It’s not a good movie, but it feels wrong to give it 1-3 stars because I still enjoyed the experience. What a baffling movie. The costumes were good at least.
There’s so many ideas and usage of Roman history and concepts here but they don’t all mesh well. It’s a confusing mess, but i don’t know… there’s something about the movie I cannot deny.
fantastic pacing, most “middle” movies suffer from too much or too little info and suffer from pacing issues as well but empire strikes back really hits its stride while exploring new territories for the characters & tones and still keeping the charm of the charas
this movie makes me nostalgic for puppets used in serious movies though (gonna go watch henson movies now brb)
