To Die For 1995
The editing and pacing is delicious. And the colors! I loved the touch of how frilly Suzanne’s house is because of course her husband has no input. Incredible performances obviously from Nicole Kidman (who had some really perfect and funny lines) and Joaquin Phoenix and also Illeana Douglas.
It’s fun to say that “she served” and of course she looks amazing and is so magnetic but if you take a step back she’s kind of a huge flop… and obviously…

Ultimately it’s fun that we have this but my expectations let me down a lil on this one.
I would have been thrilled by the 2013-era feminist speech if it was, well, ten years ago. But in 2023 it left me mostly unmoved. I guess the bottom line will always be that it’s a work produced by a huge corporation to sell toys/roll out a rebrand.
