Five-star music and four-star direction wrapped around a one-star story and acting. I would have enjoyed it so much more if the dialogue track was turned off, with only score, sound design, and image.

I have no idea what movie everyone else saw, but this thing is harrowing and beautiful, not straightforward or simple or dull. It’s not Steve McQueen’s most avant-garde work, sure, but it is his most powerful. The score alone makes it feel like nothing else I’ve ever seen.
