Viduthalai: Part II 2024
Very good and very interesting and it is making me sad that people are walking out of this movie making a list of things to mock, when the movie is so sincerely trying to make you reconsider things. Reminded me of threads in other tamil movies I watched this year, thangalaan most obviously and one moment strongly reminded me of vaazhai. I had a very good time watching it, even when I disagreed with things, and will think about it.

Enjoyed many parts of the movie, the characters were well written and all the jokes worked. The politics is well-intentioned but very messy. Sad (but not unsurprising) that many want to pit this against assertive filmmakers, whose ideas about caste are much more thought out and who are excellent at what they do.

Stuck with some aspects of our recent star movies that are not my favorite (but looks like they are going to stay) but reimagined those things in, imo, slightly more interesting and VP ways. I hope they get trolled enough to abandon the AI nonsense, those were the weakest parts.
