This is one of those movies that really rewards attentiveness – you can tell that every detail of it has been painstakingly, intentionally weaved together, and nothing is incidental. The doppelgänger trope is very well used, and the cast's capacity to so believably play radically different versions of their characters on screen together is really a testament to their talent. Ultimately, I think it's remarkable how Jordan Peele situates "Us" so firmly in the horror genre and its tropes while simultaneously delivering an incisive commentary on environmental determinism, marginalisation, social class, and how these issues are such fundamental pressure points in the fabric of American society.
