  someone said “only goths should be analyzing this film” and i kinda agree😭 there are nuances to this storyline and some people are overlooking that. people tend to have black and white thinking, however gothic cinema contains dark and complex themes. vampirism is also a great way to symbolize desire and intimacy. 

  mortals crave intimacy yet most of us are ashamed of our sexuality & sensuality. and despite Ellen’s shame, she still yearns for Orlok...
