Really dug this. Watched on New Year's Eve, which is the perfect night to watch it. Shot with cheap digital cameras, so it has a bit of a ramshackle quality, but shooting this way on the fly allowed for wonderful footage of downtown Los Angeles, especially the facades of the old theaters. Actually enjoyed this series more than I did the book. The book was a bit plodding at times, but this never was. Lizzy Caplan's narration is constant throughout the series--it very much feels like an audiobook with televisuals. The casting is perfect--even the kids are terrific.
