It’s kinda hard to discuss all the things that made this so great without spoiling it, but this was really great. I did feel the satire vibe but it also felt like it had a whole lot of heart behind it. The endings cracked me up even though I’m not sure they should’ve?
Lorraine made me so happy, as did Sterling K. Brown’s Cliffyy. Will probably watch again pretty soon.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Cynthia Erivo, I was not familiar with your game at all.
I’ve never fully engaged with any Wizard of Oz production until this, but I’ve seen bits and pieces from various movies and stuff. Seeing some of the lore being explained in this movie was pretty cool, but I think long-time fans would appreciate it more. I enjoyed it more than I expected to since I don’t usually like musicals, and I am now looking forward to the Part 2. …
Meryl Streep’s acting was incredible.
It kinda pissed me off that all of Andy’s friends acted like it was a bad thing that she finally started taking her job in fashion seriously.
That aspect of the movie felt like it undercut Miranda’s big speech from earlier, about how fashion was still an important industry with a lot of unseen impact despite it seeming a bit frivolous from outside.
Andy should have also been a better communicator to her boyfriend. It was a fun movie all the same.
