  The Master is a straightforward, psychological, and sensitive film. Anderson was very direct in emphasizing the fragility of the human mind and body. While not environmentally beautiful, Anderson uses close ups, lighting, and a melodic script to capture the innate beauty within the film. Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman were presented with trying and rather dislikable roles, yet their embodiment of the characters is so flawless and convincing that I had a difficult time separating them from the characters.…
