In many ways this was like a perfect movie for me. Firstly I loved all the characters, I thought it was so well acted by all. Kieran Culkin, like….we knew this. A truly standout performance, he has won the Oscar in my head. Such a wonderful, simple script and journey. Beautiful filming. And perfectttt length.
Grief is so interesting and shows up in us all in different ways. This film made me recognise and sit with my own grief…

But really, I knew nothing about Bob Dylan (just the name) and hardly anything of substance about folk music. So this was a great introduction to both. Wonderfully and brilliantly acted by all. Timmy deserves that Oscar nom 100%. But it was the musiccccc that really held me. So emotionally charged (which was surprising to me, I wasn’t expecting to be tearing up at the first few songs like what..) and just so. fucking. good.
My favourite moment in the whole film was Jesse, Bob and Pete playing together. I could’ve listened to that for hours.
Okay. I heard very mixed things before watching but (as someone who hates horror) I actually enjoyed! I’ll admit I was patiently waiting for Willem to show up and when he did that’s when the story reallllly took off for me - he definitely stole the show. Loved how everything was shot. The locations were beautiful. But I was stupid and was hoping that at the end it would be happily ever after but that’s just the hopeless romantic in me - poor Ellen and Thomas (also wonderfully acted) :((
I hated those God-awful blood drinking gulping sounds, though. Gross.
