eh. idk. i like media that challenges religion but this one wasn’t quiet that good to me. The message overall pretty good, good villain for a bit, but then it all just kinda stayed at one level and didn’t get any better from there
I wanted more trial and tribulations and I kinda wish ending hadn’t been so… easy….
so much potential for the horror element only to be ruined by the romance love story. I hated them both so much. So unprofessional. So annoying. So cringe. The plot armor was so forced and ridiculous. I wanted more of the gorge and less of the wattpad “she’s quirky and dances like nobody is watching” trope
the special effects were good tho! for the most part..
Hayao Miyazaki strikes again. Home run baby. Studio ghibli always has my attention and appreciation. There is a lot to learn from this film from mourning to growth and acceptance. This features one of my favorite ghibli protagonist, very real, very damaged, and very honest. The animation was beautiful, the music had me in a trance, and I even giggled a few times. I could watch it 10 more times and find a new favorite part to appreciate. I’m very glad I saw this at age 20.
