Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 1999
Def my least favorite of the first AND second trilogy, I think it ties for me with the force awakens/the rise of Skywalker. Jarjar has me shaking my head. Annakin is a little dildo. Liam neeson, Ewan McGreggor, & Natalie Portman are the most redeemable parts of the movie. The special FX/green screen during fight scene w/ quaigon Jin & Darth maul is simply hard to watch.
The pod racing seen tho is easily the best sequence in the whole movie. Also…

Pretty enjoyable overall, especiallt for what I assume to be a pretty low budget UK thriller/suspense/action/horror. Def takes a turn for kooksville pretty quick. Some occulty/folk-horror vibes. Also never seen anything mix hitman/assassin vibes with folk horror. Id give it a 7/10, maybe a 6/10.

shit fucked me up. Hard to watch yet I found it difficult to look away. Don't know if I've quite seen anything like it before. Will def keep my eyes peeled for more son of cronenberg movies. Only moments I almost felt the violence got a little gratuitous was towards the end, but the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like it was possibly the most appropriate amount of violence.
Def also seemed to be some sort of commentary on... Something lol. The corporate world? Idfk lol. This movie pulled the words "what the fuck" out of my mouth almost involuntarily.
