At the outset of the film, I was a bit pessimistic. Another "based on a true story" horror film, (seriously? The Wolverine 2013
Lacking substance and any sort of notable directing, The Wolverine was a bit of a disappointment. The film did provide a more compelling plot than most of its kind, though it was overplayed to a certain degree and had many scenes of suspense and thrilling action, though predictable. Overall, the film failed to satisfy any hunger for quality, original cinema, but still successfully entertained me and the majority of other viewers.

Pacific Rim 2013
To make it brief and put it simply, the movie seemed torn between being an analysis of being in intimate relationship with another and being another giant-robot-PG13-summer-action movie, and often fell into extended melodramatic scenes leaving the casual viewer dissatisfied as well the Del Toro fan boy dissatisfied. But even still, the film did entertain enough for me to not regret having seen it.

Skyfall 2012
Being as honest as possible, this film's plot and script is nothing short of abysmal, with an antagonist who is far from compelling and provides for little excitement in the film's final act. However, the film is stylistically gorgeous, with many shots and reminders of the classic "Bond" feel many viewers were looking for and is packed with enough grit and action that it will successfully entertain classic bond fans as well as casual viewers.
