Crossing 2024
This movie reminded me how much I missed Istanbul and my friends, my community there. It was probably the best Istanbul imagery and portrayal that I saw in a "foreign" film. It wasn't that "oriental mystique" city, but a city where real people live, experience and shape. It felt real, familiar. Is it a place to disappear? If you want to, I guess. But this film, maybe not intentionally, showed that it is a place that one can belong to.…
