A beautifully sad movie carried mostly by the acting. We're presented with an incredibly complex and deep relationship and how that grows and changes over time and hardship, which Pugh and Garfield do a good job of managing.
Some of the switches between past and future felt a litttle jarring and heavily reliant on Pugh's hairstyle to make the continuity clear, but it still pieced together a lovely story.

So many wild choices were made here.
Having the first 45 minutes focus on Saldaña's character and yet putting her forward for supporting actress awards.
Interpolating random bursts of flat talk-singing into the movie and trying to pass them off as musical numbers.
Trying to convince us this was a musical.
Having Selena Gomez badly fake cry several times.
Perhaps in the end it was simply a commentary on how the French view Mexico.
