The Silence of the Lambs 1991
A very competent film that sadly relies on transphobia to make its point. I felt like the movie chooses to correlate the villain’s queerness with their violent acts, pretty much reducing it down to a tool used to paint Bill as a monster. I found the “he’s not a real transsexual” line a pretty cheap attempt to run away from the implications of their portrayal. I can imagine this movie being very hurtful for trans women. Love anthony hopkins thoo😭

masterful. every shot feels packed with information but clean at the same time. oil thing catching on fire is probably one of my favorite movie moments ever. also im a sucker for a movie exploring toxic masculinity, daddy issues and the inherent exploitative nature of capitalism😩
