Stunning cinematography, creative direction, music, costume, makeup, and an allegory on technoimperialism with a ton of potential. Falls short in its attempt to distill its message into story.
The first half of the film races towards something spectacular but ultimately swerves into the audience with a painfully drawn-out over-explanation itself. There’s so little left to the audience’s imagination that it’s nearly patronizing.
