Showgirls 1995
Pure, unadulterated excess. Everything is over the top, down to the performances, the glitzy Goddess setpieces, and the transactional nature of rising to the top. And it's all the better for it. Paul Verhoeven swung for the fences, and while the third act is a whole mess, it can't keep down this resurgent classic.

House on Haunted Hill 1959
A classic for a reason! Still holds up with just enough camp. Vincent Price is wonderfully droll as he works his magic, and there's just enough trap doors, spooky skeletons, and acid pools to keep things moving. Some of the reactions can be a little muted or short-lived with what they're all facing, but it's all in good fun. But good lord, Nora goes through it in this one.

It Follows 2014
I liked this one quite a bit. The concept is really fun, and how it unfolds throughout is always smart and even at times subtle, which is very welcome. I was impressed with the acting and direction, which are both pretty great, and the music, man, the music. It's a mix of John Carpenter synth and the composer's other work, Fez, put together for some incredible style that I can't wait to listen to again. I look forward to watching this one again, and really recommend it.
