I don’t understand why the critics panned this film. “Here” is probably Zemeckis’ boldest experiment in decades, coupled with a technology that improved to the point that I didn’t notice the de-aging anymore. It’s a visual poem that made me sob like I never have in the cinema - and this is truly the power of film: to make you FEEL.

If Clint Eastwood were to wrap his career with this fine-tuned slow burner, he would end it on a high note. The tension builds up to a nerve-wrecking finale, with some compelling performances along the way. I loved how the 94-year-old master exposed the flaws of a justice system that often expedites trials because of stretched budget - and of confirmation biases. Bravo maestro!

I have no idea how to properly review that. On the one hand, one has to admire how a legendary filmmaker fought tooth and nail to get his passion project to life, against all odds and against the studio system.
