Started to drag but the ending was really good. I think Dolce Vita did a better job of reckoning with how much of a schmuck the protagonist is. Here, the version which is presumably more reflective of Fellini, is pitiful instead of menacing.
Ultimately, everyone just puts up with Guido's deficiencies for the sake of his movies. I suppose that's realistic, but if you're asking us to exlore your psyche with you at length, you should at least have the decency to judge yourself appropriately.
Watching now as an ~Educator in Training~ ... the central hijink in this movie is a lot more troubling
