I watched an explanation video after this movie and immediately regretted it. When considering aspects of film form like function, repetition, variation, unity, and disunity and applying them to this film, I think the film’s plot is very apparent, if not in viewers’ minds, then most definitely in their feelings.
David Lynch said something along the lines of that he thinks most people actually understand his movies and how they make them feel. Still, they want that confirmation so badly…
