Beautiful cinematography. Really fantastically choreographed martial arts sequences. Incredible set design. But tbh I had no idea what was happening half the time (not because it was subtitles). And I didn’t really emotionally connect with many of the characters. I get why people love it, just not for me

The Da Vinci Code 2006
The dialogue wasn’t great. The characters were under-developed. But honestly I couldn’t help but enjoy this movie. It’s ridiculous and self-indulgent, but I loved it.

While We're Young 2014
Watching this movie kind of felt like watching a heist from the point of view of the person being duped. Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried play two hipster millennials that you want to be annoyed by, but they’re just too friendly to really hate. I simultaneously really felt for and was really annoyed by Ben Stiller’s character, which I guess is impressive?

Horse Girl 2020
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This movie looked weird when I first saw the trailer, and it delivered on that impression. Alison Brie’s performance was the only thing that kept the film semi-grounded. The innocence and growing paranoia of her character was palpable and at times uncomfortable to watch. However, she developed a character that I felt true empathy for. The feeling of being isolated and misunderstood, though at an extreme here, is a universal feeling. The ending was confusing, but it was somewhat satisfying…
