It is slow and meditative, but after a long day at work, letting a film with little plot but beautiful visuals and some rich, quirky side characters wash over me was just what the doctor ordered.

Civil War 2024
This one’s gonna stick with me for a while. A beautiful looking but utterly terrifying film that depicts what war could be like on much more familiar territory. The decision to anchor the film with the journalists pulls its focus much more towards their interest: the horror of war on home soil rather than who’s to blame. This makes it very apolitical, which will frustrate some. However, with political events causing polarisation over the last few years, this feels far too close for comfort!

Still as hilarious as the first time I watched it. Really satisfying plot with a great cathartic ending, bulked out by Dan Akyroyd and Eddie Murphy’s anarchic fun.
