One of the craziest things happened to me last night, which is that I went to go see American Psycho at the theatre, and ended up watching the film with MARY HARRON HERSELF?!!! She also gave a Q&A afterwards, which was very insightful— & we share a lot of the same opinions on this film. But, wow, what a complete surprise (wasn’t advertised!); well worth the $14 ticket!

That being said, I've seen and reviewed this movie plenty of times (10…

    'There's no place like home.'

One of my earliest memories is from when I was about three or four years old, back when we moved into my childhood home in 2006. Tonight, I got to catch a preview screening with a cup of mulled wine. In this reviewer's humblest opinion, this compelling film is handily the best new release of 2024 so far (though, I do feel I should disclaim here that I have not seen, nor do I have intentions of seeing, Dune Pt. 2).

With its thrumming synth score, frenetic editing and camerawork, and lush colour grading, Challengers is one…

    ‘2002? Jesus Christ.’

As a 2002 baby, I resent that, Natalie Portman.

Jokes aside, this was a captivatingly uncomfortable watch. I must say I didn’t get quite as much camp and humor (aside from the hot dog moment… If you know, you know) from this as many reviewers seemed to.

Visually, there were some really interesting compositions— mostly asymmetric shots, glaringly empty chairs, and mirrors and windows and glass doors, etc. Lots of reflections, actually, which lent itself well to…
