I really wanted to like this, but it is literally a remake of an Australian movie from last year (Five Blind Dates) which I’ve already seen and didn’t love (which I obviously didn’t realize until I started it). Once again, there’s only so much hot people can do

The Brutalist 2024
Too long, a bit overindulgent in its attempts to be “visionary.” I felt like the first half was personal and the second half devolved a bit into overwrought metaphors. It was thought provoking, but not as deep as grandiose as it fancied itself.

A Complete Unknown 2024
Decent version of a biopic, glad it stuck to a specific time rather than spanning Dylan’s life. A little dry plot-wise, but with the exception of a couple moments the performances felt like good interpretations of the real figures (rather than impressions). Honestly, I I kind of prefer Timothee Chalamet singing in the style of Bob Dylan to actual Bob Dylan.

Wicked 2024
It was a movie. Really liked the directing, sets, costumes, etc. such attention to detail. Cynthia Erivo was surprisingly good and I’ve never not adored Jonathan Bailey. Overall very meh plot, the songs weren’t that great (even the two best/most famous ones were pretty underwhelming), don’t feel like we needed two parts. Idk, not a musical theater person, wasn’t really for me.
