  I can’t help but think there’s something behind the relationships in this film compared to the original two. In 1986, what was a momma bear coming to save her surrogate daughter in one of the most referenced examples of maternal instinct in modern cinema, is now in 2024 a protective surrogate older sibling relationship turned two siblings saving each other. Compare to 1979, when seemingly the most socially isolated character (bar Ash) survives not from teamwork but through her wits…
