When people discuss David Lynch in relation to jumpscares, they often use examples from Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire.
Nothing from either of those two films can compare to the absolute horror of being blasted by the sudden surround sound bombardment of the most ludicrously heinous display of pure, unadulterated jazz of all time.
Made it impossible to resonate or sympathise with Bill Pullman's character from that point onwards, and it was less than ten minutes into the movie. I'm not even kidding.
I'm glad that guy was in his house.
This was awesome. Far better than I remembered it being, this was the first time I've viewed this since early 2018 when I finished watching TNG for the very first time.
I think I slagged it off back then because it was still cool to diss the Next-Gen cast Star Trek movies despite the fact that I kinda like them all. Obviously Insurrection and Nemesis have their monolithic shortcomings. Not to mention Generations' somewhat iffy plot but excellent themes.

The Daleks: George Lucas Special Edition
This was too short, occasionally felt like it was edited specifically for the TikTok generation. Could've done with an additional fifteen minutes. Everything after they all escape from the Dalek city is really poorly paced.
Didn't appreciate the flashbacks either. Especially when it was flashing back to things that happened barely five minutes ago. I felt it was patronising, like they thought I had the memory of a hamster.
