While I think that Broderick is certainly the weakest part of this and that it would benefit from being focused more on the black characters, I think you have to be a very cold person to discard this as just another white-centered/white saviour narrative rather than a greatly affecting, albeit flawed, film. PTA is able to throw you 20 characters and plotlines in the first 10 minutes of a film and have you 10000% invested in every one. Every actor here is just on a fucking mad one - obviously all the technical aspects are on point and every needle drop hits, at one point Tom Cruise yells "RESPECT THE COCK". Beautiful. Best film ever I think. Insane.
