I’m giving this a 3 out of 5 because it was mostly fun and I can’t give it a 2.75. It could’ve been a lot smarter, a lot of potential was left on the table... I easily could say 3 or 4 things that didn’t add up or make sense, things that you catch immediately while watching. Tbh this movie is like Ex Machina’s little sister, if you want something actually intriguing, just watch that. Sophie Thatcher is sort of enthralling though, interested in seeing the projects she lands/chooses from here
Adrian Brody playing a Jewish man heavily affected by the Holocaust will always get a 5/5 from me, no other notes

This movie was absolutely dreadful, which is a great thing for horror. Amazing performance by Naomi Scott, we will never call you Princess Jasmine again after this. I would’ve been fine if this film was 10-20 min shorter and I wasn’t in love with the ending. That’s the tough thing about a movie with an unreliable narrator: that established unreliability will eventually be overdone and pulling a “haha none of that was actually real” at the end of a film can be annoying.
This definitely screams first time director, first feature film, but it had its charm. I appreciate what this film was trying to be: Booksmart meets Scream. This film felt like wearing 1999 as a costume rather than just taking place during 1999, but there were for sure some setting-related laughs.
Negatives: the pacing throughout this film was pretty bad, lots of jokes falling flat, and a distinct lack of chemistry between the cast for the first 20-30 min. Positives: Kyle Mooney (acting), a fun dance sequence, a really compelling guest appearance, and I finally know what The Kid Laroi looks like.
