Gave the ultimate cut a whirl. I think the movie looks great and there something to be said for how faithful it is but maybe a bit too faithful? I don’t know being having a Snyder week and he feels oddly muted here. Can’t really have his usual flair because you can’t really change Watchmen too much. Jackie Earle Hayley is very good otherwise it’s mostly serviceable. Kind of tries to operate as a standard superhero flick too much.

Another brilliant turnaround. The additions more to accent things than adding in tons of new stuff as part one did. The expansion of the coup really worked,a chance of a fairer society having to stamped out less it threaten the war machine.

Was super unsure at the start but became more and more taken with it as it went on. Musical wise the songs used to accent the story rather than push it along. The set design and use of colour brilliant in this. A really great example of what’s great cast can bring once it played it’s hand about the lies we tell ourselves and each other I really was pulled in fully. Very melancholic hard to put my thoughts fully into words but blown away all told.

Loved this super sharp script really find the sort of awkwardness and absurdity in its premise. Feels a film a lot about sort of putting on a show not just to yourself but the world and sort of ignoring the pain and suffering of everything. The two central performances the core here a really tremendously believable dynamic. Didn’t think this would have me reflecting on the state of the world so much coming out. Definitely more under the hood than you would think at first glance. Really good stuff.
