It’s the second time I watch this movie and I still end up finding new perspectives to pick on. Mima Kirigoe (surprisingly similar to “Nina” from Black Swan, which is confirmed to have drawn inspiration from this movie) sacrificed her innocence and purity to reach her best version. As the focus of attention, she can’t help but be a magnet for people who envy something Mima holds, but will never be theirs. It’s the type of movie that induces the same state of confusion and spiraling the character faces onto the viewers.

ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. From a nihilistic perspective, Renton decides not to “choose life” and to be indifferent about everything bad that happens in his story, almost acting as if he didn’t have the ability to “choose”. Nevertheless, he awakened from this state of existential numbness as soon as his current situation seemed to not go any better, forcing him to choose a better life. But as always, leaving the past is not an easy task, and even though people you left behind might come back, there will come a point where they won’t be able to catch up with you, literally.
