While watching the movie I had a lot of regards towards my family(obviously), specifically of my father and my sister.
Obviously I had thought of the relatability of the movie as it was essentially a recounting of the characters’ family vacation. Many of the shots reminded me of similar photos and videos I had taken of my family on trips and in hotels, on boats, restaurants.
For my father, I had a hard time relating him to Calum. I understand…

Hmm I looked into it and I'm pretty sure I get it. And it's pretty well made in terms of trying to display it's themes and what it all really means, and that's really cool, but at the same time it didn't really make me feel much when I reached such conclusions... which doesn't mean it's bad by any means but probably not my thing. It's like a good think piece movie but it's grape flavored and I prefer strawberry or something like that. Really good music

Not too good, not too bad. It reminds me of a story written in the early 2010’s, except with visuals so cinematic it feels like a 3 hour GTA cutscene. SFX, music, cinematography are easily up to bat; a technical masterpiece worth mentioning. The great visual directing distracts you from the simplistic plot and the not so great writing. The reason why the film isn’t a complete disaster is because the story does not try anything new. It’s unoriginal and…

Escapism is the strongest and most tell-tale theme in most modern medias that deal with the younger generation. This movie perfectly encapsulates the loneliness and the pathetic nature of humans who live amongst their own devices. They don't shy away from breaking tropes and showing the true nature of the protagonists. A sci-fi mecha is only the disguise of the emotional journey of the protagonist, who is essentially a teen chock full of parental issues and low self-esteem. Your anime waifus are not real, go outside.
