  The show shies away from some of the more disturbing imagery in the novel, but in exchange you get pretty animation and a sick sound track.

  The aesthetics is immaculate. It’s mostly spooky dysphoric reality doubting vibing. But then the end freaked my bean really hard.

  Watched this like 8 years ago and it’s still one of my favorite pieces of media to date. While the manga is my favorite iteration, this is a close second. The animation is gorgeous. It beautiful captures go nagai’s grotesque story of the horrors of love and nuclear war.

  Sub vs Dub
  The English dub is where all the memes come from and it’s super charming to me. However, if your looking for a more serious tone I recommend the original Japanese dub. Also Akira is voice acted by Jakurai Jinguji from Hypmic so that’s kinda sexy.
