as a spectacle, it was definitely entertaining, but it lacked the emotional core that many of Nolan's other films had. Many of his previous movies work like a puzzle that you get pieces of throughout the film and you get to piece together yourself, and on first glance, it might look like this movie is the same, but with the main gimmick being a vaguely defined time travel mechanic, it becomes next to impossible to piece together without encountering paradoxes…

It almost feels like this film was made specifically for me. it hits every single mark for what I look for in films, and I also watched it at exactly the right time for it to have an immense impact for me. the themes about how the world reacts to things that are weird about others, how we all have parts of ourselves we don't dare to show, and the tragedy and beauty of the parts of ourselves we can't change.
