  ok so for context i watched the first 3/5 of this six months ago in my relatives' very nice home theater and just finished it now.

  some incredible sequences (harkonnen planet was an absolute highlight) strung together with pretty crap worldbuilding and character development. also learning to ride the worm sadly did not live up to my expectations.

  i burst into laughter at one point when chani stormed off and the chanting score started.

  mikey madison was amazing.

  it wasn't too difficult to see where things would go, so i couldn't decide whether the plot points felt predictable or earned. maybe both?

  thank god the ending was what it was.

  very weird movie. many ways to interpret, not really sure what exactly FFC was intending (I'll admit I don't know much about his persona or politics), but my take on it...

  1. the trad-ness at the core of the film was off-putting to me? female characters kinda do female character things. julia's arc in particular was boring and cliché.
  2. i originally thought cesar was supposed to be a weird elon musk type guy we could all point and laugh…
