Ladies and Gentleman.... I have finally done it....

This movie marks my 1,000th full-length movie watch ever. Not shorts, not documentaries - straight movies. Yes, some are animated. I don't believe any are anime. I spent a month when I first got my Letterboxd account combing through movies, lists, franchise collections, actors, actresses and directors trying to find every single movie I have ever seen. I spent a few days a little over two weeks ago with a fine-toothed combing…

Well my friends, we've finally done it. I have now officially seen (AND PAID FULL ATTENTION TO) Gone With the Wind. The best thing? I got to see this in theaters for it's 85th Anniversary - complete thanks to Fathom Events! And I have a LOT to say about this one. This is another I raced home because I was so excited to write out this review.

I watched at least one movie within the last 30 days that casted…

Just fucking amazing. From the first scene all the way to the end. This surreal fucking fever dream is an underrated Lynch gem at his finest. Loved Laura Dern in this, and even though Nic is flat as wood (as always) he still manages to pull some laughs and awesome physicality into this. It's a straightforward story that is cohesive - with a ton of dreamlike insanity thrown in for good measure. Every actor had fun on this, guaranteed - and I was even able to identify Jack Nance!

Trying not to give out many 7's this year but this one has to get it. Not nearly as good as The Fly but with more mental focus it could be really intriguing. I just found it very dry and despite its pull of a fantastic sounding premise, quite boring. His descent into madness was really only because of drug addiction, and I found that to be a cheap plot inclusion and he didn't even really go mad. He kind of went there but a ton was held back. Jeremy Irons however did an impeccable job in his duel roles.

A cool sci-fi that reminds me much more of Snowpiercer than Parasite. The same tone, same clothes and evil type of regime at the helm. Dystopian-adjacent, it also reminds me of The Hunger Games somewhat. Maybe it's the grey clothing.

Overall I had fun with this. I liked that I was able to distinguish act 1, 2 and 3, without spending an exorbitant amount of time on any particular section. There was some decent humor in it as well. Not…

I wish I had been tripping balls for this but I still felt like I was. A rewatch but #2 Lynch in theaters for me. I still don't know what it's about. But ain't nothing better than watching this in pitch fucking black.
