My favorite thing about this movie is how it shows that life’s cyclical nature, with all its joy, mundanity and distress, might be inescapable, yet it still manages to offer a solution to all of that through the 8-year-old Yang-Yang.
Yang-Yang mostly lives his life alone, but he is never portrayed as lonely as the other characters. In his solitude, he observes the people around him and understands that they view the world differently, which he strives to comprehend.
