Nocturnal Animals 2016
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
As a woman, this movie is difficult and infuriating to watch. The sexism of the writing and direction run deep, seeping into every shot that oozes an empty craving to be “stylish.” One of the morals of this film - in its own words - is that “all women are doomed to become their mothers.” Not to mention the toxic masculinity-infused blaming of a woman for having an abortion. This movie never received the comeuppance it deserved. It is a piece of vile garbage which tries very, very hard to convince you it’s a sophisticated debutante.
