I wish a woman had been present in the writer's room for this one. There's so much potential for a deep and thought-provoking message within this film, yet everywhere I try to look I'm met with signs that say, "Stop. This isn't for you. This is for the men who can stomach watching an hour of torture porn and then see themselves as the victim for the other hour." I'm gonna have a lot of fun analyzing this movie for the rest of time, but sometimes you shouldn't need a translator, or the eyes of a man, to see a good movie under all the bullshit.
I went to watch this with my girlfriend🏳️🌈 in the hopes that it would spark her interest in LoTR. After watching it, I realized I couldn't show her LoTR, because as good as the original movies are, they will never represent strong, real woman as good as this movie did.
