don’t stone me but… i didn’t get it. felt underwhelming and i fail to see this big commentary on sex work. maybe it was supposed to be subtle but for best picture i was expecting more layers and characterization of anora i mean it’s literally her movie??? idk maybe im just missing it but it felt very flat. mikey tried sha so i wont be speaking on her best actress win

i walked into that theater ready to have some fun and instead walked into an existential crisis...
the biggest thing i appreciated in the film is gloria's request for an ordinary barbie and her getting her wish in margot's barbie (her barbie doll). barbie's motto "she's everything" seems to parallel (often egregious) expectations of women to the point where women feel lost and exhausted, feeling that they're worthless if they cannot ultimately be extraordinary. gloria emphasizing how it's still good…
