hmmm a lot of thoughts and a lot to digest… but I see why this film is lauded by so many. 역사를 잊은 민족에는 미래가 없다, a retrospective journey through SK’s dark and repressive political history, marked by systematic brutality and dictatorship during the 80s and 90s. the reverse chronology storytelling, groundbreaking and innovative at the time, remains refreshing, working beautifully with the six chapters that unravel key moments leading up to yongho’s tragic demise. yongho’s deeply disturbing, violent and repulsive character is really the only reason why I didn’t enjoy this film as much, which upon reflection, was probably necessary given its context
