  The cast, soundtrack, and visuals were awesome and really helped to sell the "historical epic" feel. But while the story worked well on an overall level, I feel like it had a lot of narrative issues lmao. One of the biggest ones for me was the weird last-minute romance they threw in with Maximus and Lucilla, like wtf bro didn't you say your dead wife and kid are waiting for you??
  All that being said, I was completely entertained ;)

  It does such a good job at showing, not telling: Sicilian culture, the power of the cinema, young love... and even tho the whole movie is amazing, what stood out to me the most was the ending--I couldn't have imagined anything more meaningful. Pure magic.

  PS arguably my favorite soundtrack for a movie ever. Jesus fucking christ.
