So I was very excited when I watched the trailer for this and saw that it was going to be action/horror and not just the former. Then I actually watched the thing and got disappointed.
While I was going, "Hey, I know you!" every few minutes at the screen, I was disappointed that none of the characters were every really fleshed out much, they only exist to be canon fodder, which makes for less than interested viewing. I felt myself…
I will admit I wasn't really locked in for the first half of this, but by the midway point something clicked and I became a captive audience member.
I think the theme of steadfastness is a clear one, but well illustrated by the characters who operate by its creed. It's how you can tell the heroes from the villains in this tale. Those who are dedicated to a cause are exalted. It's very interesting to remember that in the context of when this was produced, especially when the first title card gave me a bit of a jolt.
