  great design on the jaegers and kaiju, lots of the other stuff is a mix of poorly explained, not fleshed out, and really cliche

  35mm!

  I'm in awe of the cinematography, the ambiance, the colors, truly iconic and groundbreaking. Everything that happens is amazing, but there's like 40 minutes during which nothing happens. I'm not saying it should have all been cut, just that 20 minutes straight of nothing but guys in bad monkey suits screeching is more than we needed. Ten or fifteen probably would have sufficed.

  I think the best way to watch 2001 would be to get absolutely zooted and watch the first 117 minutes, pause it, sober up, and sit right back down for the last half hour.
