visually stunning. quiet, gripping story. there were times i audibly gasped at what unfolded on screen
film portrays a day in the life of a family in japan. past resentments spill over and take hold, but so too does the acceptance. i love seeing such flawed characters on screen — it feels raw and real in a way, and i hope one day to write like that
my favorite scene right now is that image of the kids, their hands…
a realistic portrayal of grief, faith & the ways we wear ourselves thin trying to make meaning out of senseless meaningless events. a heavy movie but would watch again just to see Jeon Do-yeon’s incredible performance one more time

most impressive parts of this movie are 1) monica belluci and 2) that michael keaton offered to play betelgeuse AGAIN
there were sooo many character inconsistencies to the point where none of them seemed believable to me (yes very virgo of me). betelgeuse is 600 years old but you're telling me over the course of 20 years or whatever he softened to the extent that he's now essentially the hero (not the villain !?) of the movie?? you're telling me…
