cinematography was nice in some of the beginning scenes but camerawork was like that of minecraft, after the first hour it gave me a headache so the rest of the film was difficult to watch. for the most part i just didn’t understand it and i felt like it lacked structure. some of the scenes are really beautiful if they were captured as photographs so i really wish the camerawork had been more stable. i also wonder whether i’d have enjoyed the poetry more if i understood chinese or understood the context of the film more deeply.
cried a lot, should have brought tissues. really upsetting, so many scenes made my heart ache for both the boys. it was shocking how much it resonated with me and how deeply i felt all the emotions despite the fact that i haven’t experienced any of these things in the film directly in my own life. a really well made film with really good acting.
