Here’s a gem you might have overlooked from the late 80s. I can’t believe this is your reviewer’s first screening of the film. Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David don’t do much but when they fight over wearing sunglasses, you can be sure it will last a while.

Juel Taylor knocked one out of the park with this crazy hood sci-fi soon to be cult classic. Beginning with some drugs, hos and ghetto chaos things take a turn to the wild side of biological science. Tip: not all white powder is cocaine. You know things can’t be good when the scientists are white guys with afros, never mind corpses that you recognize.

Big Trouble in Little China 1986
This movie has it all: Chinese dark magic, fancy gang hand signals, an eclectic sampling of firearms and cheesy edged weapons, a floating head, slave girls, lightly veiled racism, a syphilitic old man and some sort of evil Wookiee leper. Let’s also not forget three flying dudes with big hats. I’ll probably give this film four stars when it debuts on Mystery Science Theater.
