"Don't be rash!" perfectly summarizes how I feel about the "new" MCU now. This movie was beautiful for what it had: cinematography, set/character design, reasonable succint character arcs, and heart. Despite some tonal dissonance in some scenes (which honestly suits the movie and it's titular team). Bravo James Gunn.
If only we let directors take creative liberties for worldbuilding and cinematic depth instead of relying on cookie-cutter formulas for box office success.
To be fair I can't speak on accuracy to lore since I just recently joined a campaign for my first time playing DnD, but it sure seems like this film adheres to the sense of controlled chaos that DnD often evokes (something confirmed by a friend).
It's got great themes and the characters aren't complete idiots. And magic, and creatures, and everything you could ask for. The only real complaint I have is CGI-related, but once again this is a broader film industry problem so I don't mind it too much.
